Zig Zag, the Sailboat - Currently FOR SALE, please call 1-787-461-2745 for details

.

Zig Zag is a Morgan Classic 41 built almost 20 years ago by Morgan Yachts in Florida.  It is a blue water cruising boat - i.e. if we keep it long enough, you will see us trespassing some major oceans on it.  Zig Zag has a sloop rig - one mast and two sails - mainsail and genoa (the front sail).  We also inherited a spinnaker (one of those colorful sails you put in the very front), which we may use one day.  Also, below is the picture of the *dinghy,* our imperative part of boat equipment which is our “car,” i.e. wholly responsible for getting us around.  You may notice it looks a bit shabby, but that's just how we like it, since dinghies tend to disappear pretty quickly in some places.

Boat name

We wanted something that reflected our gentleman’s sailing ambitions and showed that we did not take ourselves too seriously. It’s a tribute to our sailing skills and being two words, kind of represents the two of us.  In previous life, the boat was called Panasea

and was owned by several couples from New Jersey who kept it in the BVIs as their winter get away. This year we get to celebrate Zig Zag’s 20th birthday, as it was made in Florida in 1987. Our home port is Water Island, USVI (St Thomas).

We have put the new name on the boat but are yet to do the "please-Neptune" ceremony: sprinkle it with champagne - am sure will have plenty of time to do that while sailing (and Raphy already contributed the champagne part - thanks for the delicious Henkel, Raphy!!!).

Floor Plan

Zig Zag is a two-bedroom self sufficient floating apartment with two bathrooms.  Front cabin is for guests (Come visit, you will love it!), sleeps a couple comfortably and has access to a loo/shower from the cabin.  Salon is rather large and spacious (for a sailboat), complete with a kitchen and a navigation station - a mini office table and built in chair.  Going towards the back of the boat, you have an engine compartment on your left and a water tank on your right before you reach the master cabin with its own loo/shower in the back.  Above decks, a spacious cockpit and a swim platform in the back completes her tour.  See the floor plan and full specifications below.

Overall Description

One of the first of the “Improved” version of the famous Morgan Out Island series. This boat was designed from the keel up to be a general improvement over the original design concept with a modified fin keel and full skeg hung rudder and a more efficient sail plan and she sails to windward much better than her predecessors. The redesigned interior made better use of the space available and features such things as a true U-shaped galley instead of the L shaped one on previous models and also has a separate shower stall in the aft head.
